TAI WOFFINDEN blasted that speedway’s governing body should be paying the riders to FIGHT in an explosive F-bomb rant.

The three-time world champion shocked the glitzy Premiership media day - hosted by TNT commentator Darren Fletcher - by slamming the British Speedway Promoters Association.

Outspoken Woffy, 33, believes that the on-track scraps should be allowed to go unpunished in the future.

He hit out saying: "If we have a fight now the British Speedway Promoters Association fine us.

"The BSPA should be paying us to fight. Hear me out. If the BSPA paid us to get a punch on, the viewing numbers would go through the f*****g roof.

"So instead of penalising us, give us the money. I’m sure Sam (Masters) would get stuck in.

"When Sam and Nicki Pedersen had a fight it went through the roof. When Emil Sayfutdinov and Scott Nicholls had a fight, it also went through the roof.

"It works in national media, it’s not f*****g rocket science."

Woffinden is one of fourteen world champions back in British speedway’s top flight for 2024 which starts this week - the most glittering array of stars this century.

Premiership CEO Phil Morris said: "This will be the most exciting ROWE Motor Oil Premiership this century. It truly is the golden generation.

"There hasn’t been this amount of world champion talent in our top league for a very long time.

"We are delighted that the world’s top stars are returning in big numbers for British speedway."

Woffinden will lead the charge for Premiership defending champions Sheffield.

Meanwhile Ipswich, Belle Vue, King’s Lynn, Leicester, Oxford and Birmingham all boast powerful sides.

Two-time league winner Woffinden admitted: "My targets? World Champion, league champion with Sheffield. That’s always the bar.

"The hunger is there. I like winning at everything. I’m not a nice person to be around when I’m losing. That shows I have so many emotions.

"If I get to a point in my career where I’m sitting saying it is what it is, I wouldn’t be riding."

Fans were stunned by Woffinden’s comments and he was slammed by some.

One said: "Speedway took years to shake off a yob biker image and the poison dwarf is single handedly dragging it right back there again."

Another added: "Tai is a narcissist who is only there for his own ego."

But most fans backed the controversial Scunthorpe-born star.

One fan hit back saying: "Speedway is not for snowflakes."

While another continued: "Tai certainly knows how to bring publicity to the sport. As they say all publicity is good publicity. Go for it Tai!"
