The all-star five-a-side game ended in a 18-17 win for McCoist's side and Murs decided to confront the footballing icon after the game.

The X-Factor star jokingly got in the face of McCoist and was pulled apart by TalkSPORT host and former Chelsea star Jason Cundy as a result.

The pair both admitted it was just a bit of fun after the match as they aimed to recreate McCoist's infamous touchline scrap with Neil Lennon in 2011.

McCoist was managing Rangers at the time when he almost began scrapping with then Celtic boss Lennon during the Old Firm derby.

Speaking after the fierce TalkSPORT Trophy match-up, McCoist said: "The game was settled by an Olly Murs missed penalty - who’d have thought that?

"I thought some of his comments during the game were ridiculous, he came over and wanted some confrontation and he got it.

"I reminded him about the missed penalty and he didn’t take it too well."

While Murs took responsibility for the head-to-head confrontation, he said: "I’ll take responsibility, I came on, took a penalty and thought I was making talkSPORT history."

The match saw a number of big-name stars take to a five-a-side pitch in south London with Alan Pardew taking charge of one side and players like Troy Deeney involved on the pitch.

Former Newcastle and Crystal Palace boss Pardew took aim at Murs for subbing HIMSELF on to miss the crucial penalty that decided the game.

He said: "He’s made some terrible decisions today, including subbing himself on to take the penalty.

"He’s got a lot to learn and hopefully he’ll learn it quickly."

Despite both McCoist and Murs locking horns they were seen smiling soon after the incident showing that it was all a joke in the end.
