What is Thorpe Park?

Dubbing themselves "UK's most thrilling theme park", Thorpe Park is the home of a number of record-breaking rides.

The Swarm, the only winged coaster in Britain, boasts speeds of 62mph and a force of 4.5G to knock you back into your seat.

Nemesis Inferno will spin, dive and swoop riders at hefty speeds of 50mph thanks to its inverted vertical loop track.

And as if that wasn't enough to get your heart racing, Thorpe Park has an additional two new projects launching in 2024.

The first is Big Easy Boulevard, a New Orleans-themed land, promising "epic thrills" and "laughter-packed rides" as well as a 4D cinema.

Concept artwork released by Thorpe Park shows new facades in the style of Louisiana Creole architecture, which will be put up throughout the new area.

A fireworks factory, a gas station and other props will add to the area's theme.

Detonator, a drop tower ride that sends people plummeting 100ft, has been rebranded to fit in with its new surroundings.

This addition has been coupled with the development of the UK's tallest and fastest roller coaster.

Known as Project Exodus, it has now been revealed the beast of a ride has been named Hyperia - the most death-defying ride in Britain, which reaches 80mph and heights of 236ft.

Neil Poulter, Divisional Director at Thorpe Park, said: “We’re delighted to be launching the UK’s tallest, fastest and most weightless ride here - which has been years in the making.

“We are excited for thrill seekers to be able to experience Hyperia which will be an amazing addition to our other record-breaking rides.

“Thorpe Park is a must-visit for those looking to embark on an exhilarating adventure with friends and family.”

When does Thorpe Park open in 2024?

Given the upgrades Thorpe Park has undergone during the off-season, adrenaline junkies across the country are dying to know when the theme park is set to reopen.

Thorpe Park tends to close in early November every year, and reopen around March the following year due to weather conditions.

The Sun can now confirm that the theme park will be reopening its doors to the public on March 23, 2024, and tickets are already available to purchase online.

Roller coaster fans will have until November 3, 2024, to get on the UK's fastest ride, before it shuts again for the winter.

What is the address for Thorpe Park and how do I get there?

Only 20 miles from London, Thorpe Park can easily be reached by car, train, and bus.

The address is: Thorpe Park Resort, Staines Road, Chertsey, Surrey, KT16 8PN

Drivers travelling from the M25 should exit at either junction 11 or 13 and follow the A320.

There is a £8 car park charge that can be bought in advance from the Thorpe Park website.

Those coming in by train will need to head to Staines station.

Staines is well connected, with trains every 30 minutes from Waterloo, Reading, Weybridge and Windsor & Eton Riverside.

From Staines station, thrillseekers can jump on the 950 Thorpe Park express bus, which will swiftly take them to the park.

How much does Thorpe Park cost and how do I buy a ticket?

Thorpe Park offers multiple ways to get a bang for your buck.

Through Sun Superdays, you can nab two free tickets.

Advance park tickets are already available for 2024, with the following prices:

  • 1 Day Ticket - from £34
  • Overnight stay with 2 Park Entry - from £60pp

For anyone under 1.2m, the attraction offers free tickets, but these must be booked in advance.

Students need not worry either, as Thorpe Park sells one-day advance tickets for £22 if they have a student photo ID with an expiry date. Student Beans, Unidays or TOTUM cards are also accepted.

If you're planning to visit multiple times, Thorpe Park's annual passes give theme park lovers valid entry for 12 months (except for certain peak 2024 dates) and "Bring A Friend For Less" tickets, in addition to other discounts.

The Silver Annual Pass starts from £99, whereas the Gold Annual Pass can be bought for £139.

The Gold Annual Pass also includes free parking.

Merlin Pass holders can visit Thorpe Park for free, along with Alton Towers Resort, Chessington World of Adventures and more.

Some of the park's fans may be disappointed to learn that a big event has been cancelled this year.
