Darts sensation Luke Littler has been on the receiving end of some fan backlash over his outfit choice on night eight of the Premier League in Dublin.

Littler did not follow in the footsteps of his counterparts and opted against wearing something green in a belated celebration of St Patrick's Day.

Though the majority of his counterparts did, Littler instead rocked up in his usual attire of a blue and purple shirt with yellow details on the sleeve.

Many fans quickly took to social media to express their disappointment in Littler's wardrobe decision. One claimed: "Luke Littler forgot the green memo for Dublin night I guess. But he does walk on with 'Greenlight' so... eh?!" Another added: "Don’t think Littler got the green shirt memo," while a third wrote: "Seems Littler didn’t get the dress code."

However, some were perfectly content with Littler sticking to his usual attire. One fan claimed: "Fair play to Luke Littler just wearing his normal shirt."

The 17-year-old has taken the darts world by storm since his astonishing run to the final of the PDC World Championships at the start of the year. Though he came up short that night against Luke Humphries, Littler has not let that hold him back and has shone since that defeat.

The first three months of the year has seen the teenager win titles at the Bahrain Masters, Players Championship and Belgian Open. Littler's career is currently so hectic, that PDC chief executive Matt Porter has revealed that the youngster's schedule is heavily monitored on a daily basis to ensure he doesn't suffer burnout.

Speaking on the Love The Darts podcast, Porter said of Littler: “The media demands are high, [we're] still getting a lot of requests for high-end content. We saw him on The Jonathan Ross Show, he's doing Comic Relief, there are a lot of A-list people who want to speak to Luke which is great for him and great for darts and it's important that is managed properly.

“His manager Martin (Foulds) is excellent, his family are very supportive, we're involved and it's a team effort really just to make sure everything is geared around giving him the optimal opportunity to be the best he can on the oche and just get enough rest and time to himself to be a normal 17-year-old as best he can away from that.

“It's early days, it's hard to think we're only three months into the Luke Littler story but who knows how long it might last?” Littler was beaten on the night by Michael Smith, who has managed to get the better of the youngster in Cardiff, Brighton and now Dublin.
