Omid Scobie slammed for 'tasteless' post amid Kate Middleton cancer announcement

Omid Scobie has been heavily criticised for his post following Princess Kate's cancer announcement.

The royal biographer was slammed for a "tasteless" post as he shared a screenshot of an alarm clock set for 6pm - the exact time the Princess of Wales' cancer diagnosis was revealed. Scobie, who was behind the controversial book titled Endgame, took to Twitter just over an hour before the announcement to share the screenshot. His post was uploaded before the public knew there was to be a statement and was quickly called out when the news became apparent of Kate's cancer diagnosis.

He appears to have since deleted the post following the backlash and shared Kate's statement in full, labelling it "brave". Scobie has been slammed for his post, with one person writing: "Disgusting man. Literal shame on you."

Another said: "Will you now shut up Scobie? Are you happy now?" Someone else slammed his post as "tasteless", while another person branded him a "complete troll".

In her statement, Kate said her medical team advised her to undergo a course of preventative chemotherapy following her diagnosis and revealed said she is now in the early stages of that treatment.

The future queen added: "It has been an incredibly tough couple of months for our entire family, but I've had a fantastic medical team who have taken great care of me, for which I am so grateful. In January, I underwent major abdominal surgery in London and at the time, it was thought that my condition was non-cancerous.

"The surgery was successful. However, tests after the operation found cancer had been present. My medical team therefore advised that I should undergo a course of preventative chemotherapy and I am now in the early stages of that treatment."

Scobie took aim at Kensington Palace prior to the diagnosis revelation too, launching a scathing attack on them for "covering up" Kate's Mother's Day photo scandal. Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, earlier this month, he said: "It's fair to say that most photos released by the offices of public figures have been retouched in some way, so as an isolated incident this is just an unfortunate error. But with the Palace's long history of lying, covering up, and even issuing statements on behalf of family members without their permission (cc: Prince Harry), it's becoming increasingly difficult for the public to believe a word (and now photo) they share.

He continued: "Gaining that back at this point is an almost impossible task. Wonder what it would be like if they had a good comms team."
