The announcer had confirmed moments before that it would open with a "twinkly tribute".
But fans were left baffled by the change to the usual start - and one was even worried someone had died.

Another added: "Is the theme tune different or am I hearing things?"
A third penned: "Sounds like the Gogglebox theme tune has had an accident with an ice cream van."
And a fourth remarked: "That theme tune was definitely a different version to usual wasn’t it? I’m not going crazy?"
Someone else even wrote: "What is that new music? Thought someone had died."
Although Channel 4's mention of the "twinkly tribute" before Gogglebox started did not make it clear, The Sun can reveal the subtle change was to mark the return of a popular show.
Kodaline's Perfect World intro had been switched to a piano medley for the return of The Piano.
The Piano is back for a second series this weekend and several of the channel's most popular programmes have had their music tweaked to celebrate.

"Big thanks go out to the talented composers and performers who have made this happen and our production partners who are joining us in celebrating the return of The Piano.”
