A new sighting of the 'Loch Ness Monster', described as a creature "as big as three men" has been reported by an enthusiast who claims to have spotted a giant beast emerging from the water.

The observer, monster hunter Eoin O'Faodhagain, 59, was monitoring the Scottish loch using a webcam when he claimed to have seen a large black shape breaking the water's surface. He firmly believes that it was Nessie, the elusive creature that is supposedly said to inhabit Loch Ness.

As he prepares to visit the loch in person for The Quest weekend an event where Nessie believers try to track down the beast Mr O'Faodhagain's claimed sighting signals hopeful expectation for the gathering. Eoin shared his experience: "I noticed a spot in the water causing a disturbance at the edge of the webcam screen to the right. My heart jumped because I thought this disturbance was not the norm."

Stunned and convinced that what he had observed was the Loch Ness Monster, Eoin estimated the creature to be around 18 feet long. He added: "There are no known creatures in Loch Ness that size. It could be the Loch Ness Monster; the sighting is very unusual, and that in itself puts it into the realm of Nessie but it needs further analysis."

The discovery was made on a webcam controlled by Mikko Takala, who manages Nessie on the Net. Webcams offer public access to live footage of Loch Ness, and Eoin's supposed sighting happened on its western shore near Urquhart Castle. Going on to share more about his experience, he said: "The sighting of the object in the water is quite distinct, because the surrounding surface water is calm."

"There were no visible surface vessels on the water when I began recording the footage." However, new guidelines concerning webcam sightings have ensured his observation hasn't been noted. Despite this setback, Eoin believes that further exploration could yield interesting results. This resident from County Donegal, Ireland, has numerous entries under his name in the Official Loch Ness Monster Sightings Register.

It follows some of the "most compelling" photos of what may be the beast so far. The Mirror reported Steve Feltham, a fellow monster hunter, was convinced by the appearance of the beast in new photographs. "They are the most compelling surface images of the phenomenon. Putting all 71 frames out there will hopefully spark international debate and an analysis. That's the point of it," he said.
