HIDDEN within the eerie confines of an abandoned US military depot lies a jaw-dropping exhibition - the world’s ultimate doomsday refuge.

The doomsday community is in an isolated part of the Black Hills area in South Dakota, south of Edgemont - it is occupied by Vivoes xPoint, the world’s largest underground survival community.

Vivos xPoint acquired the US Army base in 2016, formerly known as Black Hills Army Base or Fort Igloo.

The Army base was originally built as a fortress to store bombs/munitions and had the 575 bunkers as storage.

It is located about an hour away from a paved road making it extremely isolated.

According to the company's website, xPoint stands for “The point in time when only the prepared will survive.”

Vivos xPoint prides itself on being prepared for virtually any catastrophe as “the ultimate off-grid survival community.”

The underground bunkers, made of concrete and steel, are 2,200 square feet and include four bedrooms with two bathrooms.

They cost $45,000-$55,000 and come with a 99-year lease.

The doomsday community can home a total population of 5,000 in the 575 bunkers.

The entire grounds is 18 square miles and is said to be almost the size of Manhattan.

Vivos xPoint also offers its residents a general store, restaurant/bar, gym, and garden - all located underground.

Vivos xPoint dubs itself the safest place in North America on its website.

It highlights how it is within a 24-hour drive from most points across the United States.

The company said it strategically chose the isolated South Dakota location to be centrally located in one of the safest areas of North America.

Vivos xPoint added how South Dakota offers a high and dry altitude of 3,800 feet, and is inland from all large bodies of water.

The doomsday community is also 100+ miles from the nearest known military nuclear targets.

Its website includes a map of “Riots, Violence, Targets, and Submersion Zones.”

Vivos xPoint's main purpose was to ensure it would be prepared for multiple different catastrophic events.

The map shows where Vivos xPoint believes there will be a predicted submersion zone if the ocean floods.

It also has what it considers to be known nuclear targets, high crime anarchy zones, and a Yellowstone blast zone.

INSIDE THE BUNKERS

YouTuber Enes Yilmazer (@EnesYilmazer) took a tour of the bunkers and received inside details of what each entails in a video.

The bunkers are built under eight feet of concrete and dirt combined.

Most of them are about 60-80 feet long and were originally built to be storage units.

Vivos xPoint has redesigned the inside of the bunkers to be like luxurious homes.

They have been tastefully decorated including wood floors/paneling, full kitchens, string lights, furnished bedrooms/living rooms, and rooms meant for entertainment purposes.

Each bunker comes with electricity, insulation, fuel storage, and operating utilities as well.

There are also nuclear, biological, and chemical air filtration units to provide fresh air in the case of an emergency.

The one-way check valves filter the air inside and do not let any air from the outside in.

The floors have been raised, and ceilings lowered, for pumbling and extra food storage.

In 2022, the doomsday community sold around 200 bunkers and had about 30 families living there full-time, according to Yilmazer’s video.

“The central theme to all catastrophic and epic life-threatening events has typically always been to find shelter underground,” the property description said, per the video.

"The soil of the Earth itself can provide the best shelter for most catastrophes, deep below the surface.

Vivos shelters are deep underground, fully self-contained complexes designed to survive or substantially mitigate virtually any catastrophe, or threat scenario including natural or manmade disasters."
