AN acupuncturist has revealed how you can make yourself feel more awake by hitting just one simple spot on your face.

Eileen Li, from Connecticut, US said that by pressing down on the spot between your nose and upper lip can help "stimulate alertness".

The medicine guru said the magic spot, which she calls DU26, can also decongest the sinuses, help back pain or wake up someone else up.

Those with long nails can hit the spot by using a knuckle or by taking a pen to the area, she explained in a video posted on Instagram.

"Once you find the point you want to dig in and hold it there for 20 seconds," she said.

"Your eyes might water and your sinuses might open up but you'll definitely feel awake."

The acupuncture point DU26 has historically been used to revive consciousness and stop people from fainting, the expert explained.

"Save this tip because you never know when you're going to need it," Eileen added.

Eileen's clip has has garnered up 1.2million views and hundreds of impressed comments from people thankful her tip worked.

One user wrote: "This was perfect timing, I had major back pain from wrapping presents today… I tried it and about half way in I felt the pain went away - thank you".

Another said: "It definitely opened my nasal cavities!"

While one pleased user added: "Just what I needed as my nose is congested, thank you."
