Fashion retailer ASOS is beloved by many online shopping addicts for its extensive range and speedy service, especially when using next day delivery.

Loyal fans of the site can sign up to ASOS Premier and get next day delivery by paying for a membership with the retailer, but a shift in minimum requirements for your order has caused outcry online. Many customers have even threatened to end their paid membership over this new policy.

ASOS emailed Premier customers, breaking the news that they would now need to spend a minimum of £15 per order if they wanted to utilise the next day delivery.

The controversial email said: "Starting February 28 2023, you'll need to spend £15 or more to get free next day delivery.

"But don't worry - if you do spend less than £15, you'll still get free standard delivery."

From the end of February, all Premier accounts will have to spend a minimum of £15 to get next day delivery, this is £5 more than the current minimum spend.

ASOS customers took to social media to voice their discontent, with one saying: "So now you'll need to spend £15 or more to get free next day delivery with ASOS premier. What a joke."

While another tweeted: "ASOS is a joke of a company. Spend £15 for Free Next Day Delivery ??? Bye."

A third added: "I remember when ASOS premier used to mean something. Went from collecting return items from our home and giving us 30% discounts on all items before Christmas and vouchers whenever we spent to making us spends a minimum of £15 for next day delivery that we already pay 9.99 for."

The price rise impacts those who subscribe to ASOS's membership, which costs £11.95 for premium delivery each month. Standard delivery from the seller is three to five business days but by spending £10 those who subscribe can get next day for free.

While £5 is not a huge increase it has caused fans to rethink their subscription, as one customer said: "There won't be any benefits to having it now, I doubt I'll renew mine."

Another claimed: "They are so scammy! How can I get an email from ASOS saying that from end of Feb, if it's not more than £15, it doesn't qualify for next day. Like? Is that what I pay premier for."

An ASOS spokesperson said: "Last week we informed our UK ASOS premier customers that a minimum order value of £15 will apply for free next-day delivery from February 28, with orders under that amount instead benefiting from free standard delivery.

"Costing just £11.95 for an entire year, ASOS premier represents excellent value for money and this change will impact a small proportion of orders."

This isn't the first time the brand has raised the delivery requirements as before last May, all premier customers could get next day delivery free without a minimum spend.

May 2022 saw the £10 rule introduced, leading to this increase which has rattled customers. On top of this, the price for the subscription itself has also gone up by £2 since then.

Shoppers can cancel premier delivery at any time by heading to their ASOS account, clicking "my account", "manage subscription" then "cancel plan".
