Joe Wicks slammed over 'worrying' video of daughter, 5, using 'huge' knife

Joe Wicks has been blasted by social media users after the fitness guru shared a video of his five-year-old daughter using a huge sharp knife.

On Saturday, the fitness star, 38, took to Instagram to share a video of his daughter Indie showing off her cooking skills in the kitchen as she fried a steak all by herself as she proved that she's following in her famous dad's cooking expertise.

Indie, who is Joe's eldest child, was seen placing the meat on a sizzling pan before flipping it over. She then removed the steak from the heat and began to slice the ribeye into small pieces with a sharp knife as her dad watched on.

Indie did all the cooking herself, with her dad helping her only through verbal instructions. In the video, Joe can be heard saying: "That's a proper sharp Japanese knife that." After sharing the clip to his Instagram, Joe divided his fanbase as some praised the fitness guru for teaching his daughter to cook and take control in the kitchen at such a young age.

However, others were left less than impressed over the fact that Indie was using a sharp knife at only five-years-old. Others also pointed out that she was using the knife whilst stood next to her younger sibling Marley, 4.

In the comment section, fans debated over the clip as one wrote: "'I’m a big Joe fan but….. bizarrely no one mentioning the knife? Completely unnecessary for a child to be using that with another even younger child next to them. Accident waiting to happen unfortunately."

"This is a very strange video to post online. Why would a child need to know how to cook and cut a steak with a knife that big," another echoed. While someone else agreed: "Joe!!!! This is a bit of a fail. I can see why so many parents do not agree with this."

Another Instagram user ranted: "Man casually says “That’s a proper sharp Japanese knife” as child moves it way too close to little sister’s arm; That knife.. and Marley put his hand right near it. If you want to prove you like to teach your children to cook! Then only have one child on the stool while she’s cutting with such a big knife."

However, others felt that there was nothing wrong with the video and praised Joe for his parenting skills. ""Well done Joe letting your children explore and being responsible under your supervision. What a beautiful family you have; Amazing!! It’s so refreshing to see a child in the kitchen being sensibly supervised and cooking with her dad," one gushed.

While another hit back at the negative comments as they insisted: "The man is CLEARLY supervising his children. It's not as if he's literally let them loose in the kitchen with knives. People these days are just dying to criticize anything and everything. Get a life."

The Mirror has contacted Joe's representatives for comment on this story.
