Meghan Markle and Prince Harry reportedly learned of Kate Middleton's cancer diagnosis on television.

The former senior royals, who are said to have since had a private conversation with the Princess of Wales, reportedly were not informed of Kate's health news ahead of her video address.

Harry and Meghan, who have a famously estranged relationship with Prince William and Princess Kate, are reported to have learned about Kate's health "at the same time as the public".

"Several sources confirm that there were no such conversations and it is thought Harry found out about Kate’s diagnosis from television, at the same time as the public," The Times reported.

Soon after Kates' announcement, the Sussexes issued a short, heartfelt statement. It read: "We wish health and healing for Kate and the family, and hope they are able to do so privately and in peace."

Following their statement, a PR expert told The Mirror that the speed in which Harry and Meghan released their message of support was a good sign.

Ryan McCormick shared: "The speed for which it came out is positive." He also mentioned that this big event might make everyone forget past problems."

He added: "The gravity of this situation may be so large that it could melt away long-held grievances. Yes, Meghan and Harry have their faults but, family is family. Their feud could very well end immediately."

Despite it being reported that they didn't learn of the news ahead of Kate releasing a video, Harry and Meghan have since reached out to William and Kate, ITV's Chris Ship claimed.

Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, Ship said: "Prince Harry has reached out to his brother, Prince William after learning of Kate's cancer. Harry and Meghan have both been in touch with their brother/sister-in-law but did so privately. It not clear if that was a phone/video call or some messages of support."

In a newly-released statement by Kensington Palace on Saturday, Prince William and Princess Kate thanked the public for all of their support and well-wishes.

The statement read: "The Prince and Princess are both enormously touched by the kind messages from people here in the UK, across the Commonwealth and around the world."
