Anne Hathaway revealed one of her many milestones.

The actress is 40 years old and revealed to the New York Times that to some, hitting 40 is a real milestone but to her, it's not something she sees as a hurdle. For Anne, being over five years sober "feels like a milestone" and that hitting forty "feel like a gift."

She said: "That feels like a milestone to me. Forty feels like a gift. The fact of the matter is I hesitate at calling things 'middle age' simply because I can be a semantic stickler and I could get hit by a car later today. We don’t know if this is middle age. We don’t know anything."

The Princess Diaries actress first shared she lost interest in drinking after a bad hangover. She opened up about her decision on giving up alcohol during an episode of The Ellen DeGeneres Show in 2019 and that was to be there more for her son Jonathan.

She said: "i’m gonna stop drinking while my son’s living in my house... I don’t totally love the way I [drink] and he’s getting to an age where he really does need me all the time in the mornings..."

Anne experienced one bad hangover which made her come to this decision. She added: "I did one school run one day where I dropped him off at school. I wasn’t driving, but I was hungover and that was enough for me. I didn’t love that one."

She told Vanity Fair in March that she knew alcohol was not for her and feel positive to sticking to her sobriety. She said: "I knew deep down it wasn't for me. So I stopped arguing with it." She added: "My personal experience with it is that everything is better," she continued. "For me, it was wallowing fuel. And I don't like to wallow."
