Reese Witherspoon's staggering net worth makes her the richest female actor in the world, having caught the attention of Arsenal supporters by revealing that she's a fan of the club.
Witherspoon, 46, told The One Show on Thursday that she was indeed a Gooner and left the door open to investing in the north London club, who sit top of the Premier League table. Having already pumped cash into Major League Soccer side Nashville Soccer Club last year, the star most known for turns in Legally Blond and Big Little Lies appears to have set her sights on a bigger fish.
Making an appearance on the BBC show alongside co-star Ashton Kutcher to promote their new Netflix film Your Place or Mine, Witherspoon was asked about her interest in football. Host Jermaine Jenas broached the topic of investing in a British club in a move that would see her follow in the footsteps of fellow Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, who are the acclaimed owners of Welsh giants Wrexham.
"If there's space in Arsenal, all my sons and everybody would be really excited. That's our favourite team," Witherspoon cheerfully replied. "We watched the game the other day. It was bananas! That's our team." Her answer wasn't one which Jenas was hoping for, as the former Tottenham midfielder bemoaned in a jovial response: "You've literally picked my rivals."
Witherspoon added: "I'm probably going to really wreck myself here, too, because there are people out there who are not Arsenal fans! I also like PSG [ Paris Saint-Germain ]." Jenas then quipped: "Go with PSG instead please, Reese, that'd much more friendly."
Wenger breaks silence on Arsenal visit as he doubles down on title predictionHer comments piqued the interest of Arsenal fans, as supporters pondered the prospect of her purchasing a stake at Emirates Stadium and being in business with the Kroenke family. How much money she could invest into the potential Premier League champions - who boast a five-point lead at the top of the table - would determine her chances, and that's where her net worth comes in.

In August 2021, American business magazine Forbes named Witherspoon as the world's richest female actor with an estimated net worth of $400million (£325m). No wonder the New Orleans-born celebrity's pockets are so deep, too, as she reportedly made $1m (£813m) per episode for the second season of hit show Big Little Lies.
Having featured in films since she was 14 years old, she's now a mother of three but still has plenty of time to work on other career projects aside from acting, producing and writing books. When it was confirmed that Witherspoon - along with husband Jim Toth and sons Deacon and Tennessee - would be investing in Nashville's local team, she declared: "As a Tennessee native, it is thrilling to see how much growth and development has come to our home state.
"One of the things that my whole family is most excited about is Nashville Soccer Club. The opportunity to go as a family and watch a world-class team compete has been such an incredible experience."
