If you want to keep an eye on your home when you head out for the day there are plenty of CCTV-style cameras that will send footage straight to your smartphone. Nest and Ring are two of the most popular names on the market but now there's even more choice thanks to a new device launching in the UK today.

Amazon has just confirmed that British shoppers will now be able to add the Blink Mini 2 to their online shopping baskets and it certainly won't break the bank. This security camera starts from just £34.99.

Despite that very low price, the Mini 2 comes packed with some pretty impressive features including 1080p HD video recordings with a wider field of view. That not only means you get pin-sharp footage but also more live action in the frame.

Motion detection will alert you when a person or pet walks past the lens and there's two-way audio so you can also hear what's happening and speak to anyone near the camera.

A built-in spotlight glows at night and you can set activity zones so it only goes off when it spots an object in a specific area of a room - a ground-floor window or the front door for example.

Finally, it's fully waterproof and can even be purchased with a weather-resistant plug which means you can pop it on the outside of your home as well as the inside.

Amazon has confirmed that the Blink Mini 2 is available from the 30th of April in the UK starting at £34.99. For outdoor use, bundle Blink Mini 2 with the Blink Weather Resistant Power Adaptor for £43.98.

The only thing you do need to be aware of is that to get the most out of this camera you will need to add a monthly subscription which lets you store recordings and view live content for longer than 5 minutes.

Blink plans start from £2.50 per month.
