No one should have to put up with inappropriate comments being made about their body.
One mum-to-be was left outraged at work recently when her colleague made a "weird" comment about the size of her boobs, leaving her feeling uncomfortable and as though her privacy had been "invaded". The woman said she's currently three months pregnant but hasn't made the news public yet because she has a couple of "nosey" colleagues that she doesn't want to tell.
However, one of her colleagues - whom she gave the fake name Betty to protect her identity - took it upon herself to ask the woman if she was pregnant, and declared she must be because her "boobs are huge".
The mum-to-be explained Betty has always been "competitive" when it comes to people's personal lives and has been "strangely invested" in the woman's desire to try for a baby ever since she began trying last year. But she never made inappropriate comments until recently, when she made the bizarre statement about the size of the woman's chest.
In a post on Reddit, she said: "I'm 11 weeks pregnant and [Betty] asked my manager behind my back if I'm pregnant because I'm 'wearing baggy clothes and my boobs are 'huge'' - (I have not changed my wardrobe). The next day she asks me if I'm pregnant [to my face] because I have 'big boobs'."
Pregnant Stacey Solomon brands herself an 'old fogy' over NYE plans with JoeThe woman said she was "caught off guard" by Betty's question and felt "invaded", so she ended up lying and saying no. Now, she isn't sure whether she did the right thing by concealing her pregnancy.
Commenters on the post, however, said it was none of Betty's business and insisted the woman didn't have to declare her pregnancy to anyone before she was ready. One person wrote: "I would have made a harsh comment that she has to remain silent about my body. But I like the idea of reporting to HR."
While another added: "You need to file a complaint with HR about workplace harassment and sexual harassment. Specifically state that she made a comment to my manager and then to me about the size of my breasts. I am extremely uncomfortable and uneasy to be around her not do I feel safe."
