Jake Paul once predicted a boxing fight against Mike Tyson would generate $300million in revenue.

YouTuber-turned-boxer Paul has been teasing a fight against 57-year-old boxing legend Tyson for years and the pair will finally meet in the ring on July 20 at the 80,000 seat AT&T Stadium in Texas. There will be over a 30-year age difference between them come the fight, something Paul has faced heavy criticism for since the fight was announced.

The mega-fight will air live on Netflix to 260million paid subscribers at no extra cost, marking the streaming giant's first venture into live boxing. In an interview with The Journey two years ago, Paul estimated a fight against 'Iron Mike' would bring in huge revenue because of its ability to attract two sets of audiences.

"I joke with my friends about it, I'm like I'll start eating Krispy Kreme doughnuts, move up to heavyweight and fight Mike Tyson. That would actually excite me and that's a $200-300million event.

"So Mike, if you're watching this let's have some fun. New school vs old school and I think that's something that the fans would want to see," Paul said.

'Iron Mike' is regarded as one of the most devastating knockout punchers in heavyweight history and he won his first world title at the age of 20, a decade before Paul was even born. Tyson's last professional fight took place almost two decades ago but he did return in November 2020 for an exhibition against Roy Jones Jr.

Paul has never been dropped in 10 professional fights and has challenged Tyson to try and become the first man to put him down. “I want to see how hard he hits.

"Let’s see all the legends, the myths, because you’re Mike Tyson but I have an iron chin, people know that. I take shots. I think people are underestimating me being able to deal with his power," Paul said on his BS podcast.

“I am biting off a lot. This is definitely the toughest, most savage, lethal opponent regardless of age, because the power is the last thing to go. The reaction and reception of it is insane. I almost can’t even believe it, so very surreal and very, very grateful for all of that. We’re going to see. I’m excited. I literally can’t wait to look across the ring and see him and give him a f****** death stare.”
