Christina Applegate has revealed that she has 30 lesions on her brain amid her battle with multiple sclerosis.

The Hollywood star opened up about her condition as she appeared on Dax Shepard's Armchair Expert podcast this week, admitting that her crushing diagnosis has been life-altering. Christina, 52, told Dax: "I have 30 lesions on my brain. My biggest one is behind my right eye, so my right eye hurts a lot."

She then called her condition the "worst thing that’s happened" in her "entire life," after she was diagnosed back in 2021. The Dead To Me star admitted that while her vision hasn't been affected yet, she is suffering other neurological symptoms from the lesions.

She explained: "My hand starts to go weird and then I’ll get a seizure-y feeling sometimes in my brain." Christina also admitted feeling that she is the "worst MS-er" because when she is struggling with pain she chooses to go back to bed rather than stretching her muscles.

Christina also compared her MS to a "mean girl" who "pushes back" if she overexerts herself. She said: "It sucks, I hate it so much. I’m so mad about it. You can’t overcome it."

Around 130,000 people in the UK live with MS, while nearly 7,000 are newly diagnosed with the neurological condition every year, reports the MS Society. The condition affects the brain and the spinal cord, and occurs because the coating that protects the nerves is damaged, adds the charity.

Christina has previously hit out at those who had been critical of her appearance of late, admitting she was "very aware" of changes to her look and mobility. She told how she had gained 40 pounds since her diagnosis.

In a recent appearance on Jimmy Kimmel she admitted that her sense of humour helps her keep going. Jimmy said: "I learned from our text exchanges you have a very sick sense of humour," to which Christina replied: "It's how I live. It's how I keep myself okay." The show host added: "'I like it. I think that's good. I think that's the way to go for sure."

The actress also said she feels like her 13-year-old daughter Sadie Grace LeNoble is "losing her mum" as she knew her - and reminisced about their past together when they could dance, do library work together, and be more active including picking her up from school.

Christina admitted "it breaks me" as she explained she can no longer do the same things she once did effortlessly. She became emotional during the interview and said: "I'm sorry. I freak out about it every day."
