Dramatic video footage has shown how an out-of-control truck driver narrowly missed a mother and her baby in a parked car, as it hurtled past them at breakneck speed.
Crashing through the Massachusetts ice-cream stand in Bellingham, US, early Sunday evening, the driver was seen careering through the car park, smashing into signs before driving at high speed through two parked cars, one of which had a mother and her baby inside, which he only narrowly missed.
Briefly going airborne, rocks and debris sprayed in his wake, with the driver, who was allegedly "under the influence" according to local police, then crashing through a fence and into another in a neighbouring convenience store car park.

The shocking footage led to the Chevy’s Ice Cream Parlour stand owner being grateful that the family business had been unable to open yet for the forthcoming season, due to the weather and other reasons, something she now deems as "fate", as the stand would have been teeming with ice-cream customers at the time of the incident.
Two teen cheerleaders killed after police car races through red light at 86mphWith no one injured by the runaway vehicle, Shayna Murray, whose family owns the business said: ”Gratitude, because we were so close to opening – I was so happy we weren’t. All I could see in my head is the people who are typically walking around, enjoying ice cream and sitting listening to the music.”
She continued: "I was so thankful for all the things all week that annoyed me, that prevented us from opening. I was like, thank God! Thank God! It could have been a massacre.”
"I had just left after training new staff, and I noticed the car parked there. They pulled in thinking maybe we were open and just stayed to chat," Murray said. "When I went back and watched the surveillance video, I was like, ‘my God!’ They were here when it happened, and she had an infant on her lap."
The mother and baby were seen exiting the car after the near miss. According to Bellingham Police the driver of the vehicle, 38-year-old Robert Marcoux, is being criminally cited for operating under the influence, operating to endanger, marked lanes violation and speeding.
Police said additional charges may be filed. Lieutenant Stephen Daigle told Fox News Digital: ”I’m thankful that this situation did not rise to the level that it could have had Chevys opened for the season like they intended.”
“Likewise, the occupants of the vehicle that was narrowly missed are so lucky to not have been seriously injured. We are committed to fully investigating this incident and intend to hold Mr. Marcoux responsible for his actions."
