Megan McKenna apologised to fans for being quiet on social media as she shared an update on her health.

Taking to her Instagram Stories, the pregnant TV personality wrote: "Sorry I've been quiet I've been really unwell, I have an abscess which has been the most painful thing I've ever experienced and I've had an allergic reaction to medication I took for it. It all led to bad swelling in and under my tongue and neck which has been very scary.

She went on to thank medical staff at the hospital she was rushed to. She said: "I can't thank Birmingham City Hospital enough and the ambulance service for taking care of me this morning. The care I received was amazing, I'm still recovering and still a bit swollen but I'm on the right medication to help it."

The reality star went on to write: "I wanted to get back to your DMS as I know some of you have been worried about me... Thank you for checking in. I'll be posting some cute food videos from before I was unwell soon that I never got to post... So hope you enjoy."

Earlier this month, Megan - who announced her pregnancy earlier this month, had another allergic reaction to her medication and was also rushed to A&E when her belly doubled in size. Megan, who suffers from Crohn's disease, explained in a video with her fiance Oliver Burke: "I've been a bit quiet because I had an allergic reaction from one of the medications and had to go to A&E with Olly. I was really not well. My belly was double the size and it was a nightmare so definitely not taking that medication anymore.

"My body is hypersensitive and it is more scarier having that because I worry about it affecting the baby but after speaking to the doctors at the hospital they said it can't actually affect the baby having an allergic reaction. So that's why I haven't been on here but I feel so much better and I'll be back cooking my dinners for everyone."

In early April, Megan revealed that she was expecting her first child via IVF. In the sweet video shared with fans, she said that her baby was currently the size of an avocado. She also bravely opened up about her IVF journey, saying: "We did a medicated IVF cycle transfer. Before you have a transfer we had our embryos frozen and so we had loads of eggs and 15 turned into embryos so we would literally have a football team we freeze.

"And then a couple of days later you have the thawing process like day two, day three, day four, and our embryos didn't survive we were only left with two which is one of them which I had put into me. I had been injecting myself before to get my womb lining thick. I would inject myself with a progesterone and I had to do it at the same time every single day."

Megan went on: "It was so many hormones and it was intense. And I was taking a baby aspirin in the evening with all my vitamins as well. I was also doing acupuncture like every week and when I went to the clinic they had their own special person and proper acupuncture thing."
