Amy Schumer is speaking about the comments she's gotten about her 'puffy face,' which is a result of the hormonal disorder Cushing's syndrome.

In February, the actress announced her rare diagnosis after concerns about her face made her reconsider her health and get checked. Cushing's syndrome is a condition where the body produces too much of a hormone called cortisol. Cortisol is steroid hormone that is mainly known as the body's stress hormone, . One of the main symptoms of the disorder is weight gain and increased body fat.

In a recent cover interview with Variety, she opened about getting over her self-consciousness after social media users called attention to noticeable changes to her face. "The people who like me are not going to care if my face is puffy. Everyone has moments of self-doubt. I rose up and was like: 'F*** it, let’s go,'" she told the outlet.

When Amy in February was doing press for her show Life & Beth's season two and went on the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon social media was buzzing with comments about her appearance.

She addressed it in an Instagram at the time captioning the post: “Thank you so much for everyone’s input about my face! I’ve enjoyed feedback and deliberation about my appearance as all women do for almost 20 years. And you’re right, it is puffier than normal right now. There are some medical and hormonal things going on in my world right now but I’m okay.”

She explained at the time that she had endometriosis as well. Endometriosis is a painful disease where tissue similar to the lining of the uterus grows outside the uterus according to the World Health Organization.

The 42-year-old she told journalist Jessica Yellin on her Substack page News Not Noise about how those comment did make her realize "something was wrong," which lead to her "in MRI machines four hours at a time, having my veins shut down from the amount of blood drawn"

Amy made the decision to go public with her diagnosis to "advocate for women's health." She also added that having Cushing's syndrome could provide as "a good example of the fact that we never know what is going on with someone."
