THOMAS TUCHEL has been slammed by fans after failing to start Serge Gnabry despite his bold prediction.

Bayern Munich went with a tried-and-tested starting line-up against Real Madrid in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final.

But there was no place for Gnabry, who has endured an injury-hit campaign.

The winger's last appearance came in the first leg of their quarter-final clash against Arsenal, with the German scoring against his former club.

Tuchel was confident he would deliver once more against Real Madrid in his pre-match prediction.

The Bayern boss said: “Serge Gnabry will score tomorrow. It will happen. I don't know how I know, but it will happen.”

But Tuchel named Gnabry on the bench against Real, provoking confusion amongst fans.

One reacted saying: "Thomas Tuchel spent all week gassing up Gnabry to score and he benched him. You stupid bitch. This is why you gonna be unemployed."

Another added: "Tuchel is completely broken… he hasn’t even started Gnabry ????"

A third said: "I don't know how Tuchel is expecting Gnabry to score when he isn’t even starting lool."

And another commented: "Tuchel said Gnabry was scoring today and then didn't start him?"

Tuchel brought Thomas Muller into the side instead for his 150th Champions League appearance and did not use Gnabry until the 80th minute.

He may feel justified in his decision as his side led 2-1 at one point with Leroy Sane and Harry Kane scoring, before Vinicius Jr added his second to ensure the match ended 2-2.
