A mum who could lose the sight in one eye after being targeted by the Clapham chemical attacker has been discharged from hospital.

But the 31-year-old continues to receive treatment for the horrendous injuries she sustained at the hands of Abdul Ezedi eight weeks ago. She is understood to be back with her daughters, aged three and eight, who were also injured in the terrifying incident.

The woman, who has not been named, had remained sedated in hospital for days after the attack. She was lured into Ezedi’s car, with her children, after their relationship ended. The Afghan national was not the children’s father. Ezedi’s body was discovered in the Thames 19 days after he was last seen alive.

A Scotland Yard spokesman said: “The 31-year-old woman has been discharged from hospital but will continue to receive treatment. She will continue to be supported by a specially trained officer.”

The woman who was attacked in a quiet street off Clapham Common, south London, had agreed to meet Ezedi on the night of the attack. She and her children were in his car with him when they were injured, police said.

An immigration judge overturned the Home Office’s decision not to grant him leave to remain even though he failed basic questions on religion. That was despite him claiming to be a convert and having been baptised at the Grange Road Baptist Church in Jarrow, Tyne and Wear, in 2018.

Ezedi was found to have “not been honest in several aspects of his account” by the asylum judge. However, Judge William O’Hanlon allowed his appeal on asylum and human rights grounds, saying: “We must be very careful not to dismiss an appeal just because an appellant has told lies.”
