Jamie Carragher previously tore into Arsenal for signing 'Chelsea rejects' with their deadline day move for Jorginho having already been given a scathing assessment.
The Italian midfielder has become the Gunners' final signing of the January transfer window He was identified as an alternative to Moises Caicedo with Gunners boss Mikel Arteta finally getting his hands on the midfield recruit that he desired.
Jorginho, 31, has put pen to paper on a contract at the Emirates Stadium with Arsenal paying £12m for his signature. Liverpool icon Carragher has not given his view on the move as of yet, but his previous comments on the Gunners signing older Chelsea players suggest he wouldn't be on board.
Arsenal have regularly turned to Stamford Bridge to add to their squad, with the likes of David Luiz, Willian and Petr Cech all making the move over recent seasons. In the end, the trio were all severely underwhelming signings.
Speaking in 2021 Sky Sports’ The Overlap Fan Debate, the former defender said: “When you’re talking about Edu as sporting director, you’re bringing David Luiz in and you’re bringing Willian in – two rejects from Chelsea. I’m just scratching my head thinking, ‘I can’t get behind this, it’s wrong, it doesn’t work’.
Premier League odds and betting tips“Why are you buying rejects from Chelsea who are over 30? And then giving them big deals and you can’t get rid of them? That’s a mistake before it’s happened. That’s just stupid.”

“It is stupid! David Luiz has just gone for nothing, Willian will go for nothing.
“They took a load of dough out of your club and you’re left with nothing. I wouldn’t have bought Willian! And I wouldn’t have bought Luiz! They are Chelsea rejects aren’t they, they got the best out of them and then went 'Arsenal will have them."’
Goalkeeper Cech signed for Arsenal ahead of the 2015/16 season having fallen down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge. A succession of errors then forced the Gunners back into the transfer market for the signing of Bernd Leno.
Luiz endured a similar time of things over his two campaigns with the Gunners before he was allowed to leave the club on a free transfer. Compatriot Willian was an unmitigated disaster at the Emirates after arriving from Chelsea.
The Brazilian winger ended his contract with Arsenal two years early after a poor debut campaign and moved back to his homeland with Corinthians. Jorginho, 31, will certainly be aiming to enjoy a better time of things after his move.
He could potentially make his debut for the Gunners in their Premier League showdown with Everton at Goodison Park on Saturday. The Italian international has made 18 Premier League appearances for Chelsea this season, scoring on two occasions.
