A HOMEOWNER saw a rare albino squirrel on his CCTV — then got a bigger shock when he spotted her mating with a grey male.

Their bushy-tailed antics were frisky enough to trigger Mark Heathcote’s security cam.

He received an automatic alert on his phone and was surprised to see the albino squirrel on his screen.

When he studied the clip later, he noticed the randy rodents romping against a tree — although she didn’t let go of an acorn in her mouth.

Stunned Mark, 52, said: “It was like something out of Fifty Shades of Grey . . . squirrels!”

The IT manager, who was working from home in Westerham, Kent, added: “My garden security cam was triggered as ‘person detected’ while I was on a work conference call.

“I mentioned to colleagues that my camera had been triggered by an albino squirrel.

“But it was only when I reviewed it later that I realised what was really happening.”

Just one in every 100,000 squirrels is albino.

The condition is caused by a rare gene which prevents pigment from developing in animals.

Their white fur leaves them more vulnerable to attack from predators because they have no natural camouflage to protect them.
