CHELSEA kick off their Premier League run-in with a home fixture against Vincent Kompany’s relegation-threatened Burnley on Saturday.

The Blues are as short as 11/4 to finish in the top six, which could lead to European football next season. Burnley look doomed. They are in the relegation places, five points from safety. The bookmakers think Vincent Kompany’s side is already gone, as the Clarets are just 1/9 for the dreaded drop.

Chelsea vs Burnley betting preview

Chelsea have eleven Premier League matches remaining to salvage something from their season.

The Blues are into the FA Cup semi-final, where they will face Manchester City. But that hasn’t stopped sections of the fans from turning on owner Todd Boehly and manager Mauricio Pochettino.

The atmosphere at Stamford Bridge in the recent FA Cup win over Leicester was in danger of spilling over.

Substitutions made by Pochettino were met with a chorus of boos and chants of You don’t know what you’re doing, and as Raheem Sterling found out, it wasn’t just the manager getting it in the neck from the disgruntled fans.

At times, it was hard to work out who or exactly what the faithful were booing.

If there is a worse time to be playing against Vincent Kompany’s Burnley, this could be it.

The Clarets have conceded a monstrous 63 goals this season. Only Sheffield United’s 74 is making that defensive record look remotely respectable. But they are now unbeaten in two in the Premier League. So should Chelsea fans be worried?

Some things don’t change, though. Even in the two-match unbeaten run, Burnley have conceded three times. And two of those goals came very late in both matches - a problem that has dogged the Clarets all season.

Should Chelsea not end Burnley’s remarkable two-match unbeaten run, it could be an interesting afternoon at the Bridge. But we suspect that Pochettino will live to fight another day!

Chelsea to score over 2.5 goals (Spreadex)

In their last three home matches in all competitions, Chelsea has scored ten goals at the Bridge.

Okay, seven of those were scored against Championship opposition in the FA Cup. But - yes, I’m going to say it - Burnley’s defence also looks at Championship level.

Nicolas Jackson to score anytime (bet365)

I am quite surprised to be finding myself tipping this, but I’m going with Nicolas Jackson to score.

Quite possibly the most consistent attribute Jackson has shown this season is turning up to play in 24 of Chelsea’s 27 Premier League matches. His finishing has been woeful at times, but he is only 22, so maybe we have to cut him a little slack.

Anyway, in recent weeks, Jackson has been finding the net a bit more consistently. He has scored in three of his last four matches for Chelsea. A goal against Leeds in the FA Cup was followed by league goals against Brentford and Newcastle.

He did draw a blank against Leicester in the FA Cup. How, only he can answer. He will get chances against the hapless Burnley defence. The only question is, will he convert one?

Cole Palmer 2+ shots on target (Sky Bet)

This bet has been boosted from 8/11 to even money with Sky Bet. Palmer has had nine shots in his last four starts in the Premier League for Chelsea.

The Clarets will offer plenty of chances. And after that free kick by Raheem Sterling against Leicester City, expect Palmer to be back on set-piece duties for this Saturday’s match.
