Travis Kelce brought his trademark humour to the White House, cracking jokes as he joined his Kansas City Chiefs teammates in Washington D.C. to celebrate their Super Bowl victory.

President Joe Biden, with a hint of jest, invited him to the podium, saying, "I'd have Travis come up here, but God only knows what he'd say," before altering course and beckoning the star tight end to join him.

Kelce played along, quipping to the crowd, "My fellow Americans, it's nice to see you all yet again." He then playfully added, "I'm not going to lie, President Biden, they told me if I came up here I'd get tased, so I'm going to go back to my spot."

The joke was a nod to last year's ceremony where Kelce, the nine-time Pro Bowler, had a little run-in with the Secret Service after approaching the podium unannounced. The White House lawn is becoming quite the familiar setting for Kelce and his seasoned colleagues, thanks to the Chiefs' recent string of successes.

Before the current era, Kansas City had been waiting since 1969 for a Super Bowl win. However, led by the stellar performances of Kelce and quarterback Patrick Mahomes, the Chiefs have now lifted the Lombardi Trophy twice following their triumphant campaigns in 2019 and 2022.

Despite starting from rocky beginnings with an inconsistent receiving lineup, the Chiefs sailed through to a nail-biting 25-22 overtime victory against San Francisco, marking the most-watched Super Bowl in the history of the NFL.

The spike in NFL viewership could well be down to Travis Kelce's romance with Taylor Swift, the 14-time Grammy-winning megastar, drawing her legion of fans to the sport. White House insiders were abuzz with hopes that Swift might grace them with her presence, yet the 'Eras Tour' genius was nowhere to be spotted in Washington.

"That's a good question. I think the Swifties behind these double doors are hoping that Taylor Swift will make an appearance. I don't have anything for you," said White House secretary Karine Jean-Pierre. "I don't know. I can't speak to her schedule, but I know there's a lot of interest in this building and on campus."

Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker also caught attention at the Friday celebration. The veteran player, who has been integral to each Super Bowl win, landed in hot water recently due to his contentious commencement speech at Benedictine University.

Butker, a devout Catholic, used his platform to express a range of conservative views, including traditional gender roles, COVID-19 denial, and doubts about the legitimacy of Biden's election win over Trump. Despite his political leanings, Butker joined the presidential festivities with his team.

During an episode of his "New Heights" podcast, Kelce and his brother Jason challenged his teammate's comments. "I can't say I agree with the majority of it or just about any of it outside of just him loving his family and his kids," Kelce expressed.
