Ferrari have unveiled their hotly-anticipated special Miami Grand Prix livery with blue paint adorning their famous red cars.

The Italian team announced last week it would take to the track in Florida this weekend with a special one-off paint job featuring two different shades of blue. But they did not say how much of their traditional red cars would be affected by the colour change.

Ferrari have now unveiled their livery for the Miami race. Its traditional red continues to serve as the main base colour, thought the front and rear wings are blue while there are also accents on the bodywork.

It comes after the team announced Hewlett Packard as its new title sponsor. The lucrative agreement will see the computer firm's logo adorn its cars and the drivers' race suits, while the official team name has been changed to 'Scuderia Ferrari HP'.

The bold new look to the SF-24 cars is a nod to the team's glorious past. It features two different shades of blue - the first being a lighter colour close to that used on the Argentina national flag. It is a nod to Alberto Ascari, who wore blue on his helmet and race suit as he became Ferrari's first F1 champion in the 1950s.

The second is a darker shade that has also featured on one of its legendary past drivers. Clay Regazzoni was the last racer to use the shade, Azzurro Dino before Ferrari's drivers switched to wearing mostly red race suits.

The bold change is part of Ferrari's celebration of its historic breakthrough into the American marketplace. The Italians raced in white and blue cars for the final two races of the 1964 season to mark that important moment in the brand's history.

Drivers Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz will also be wearing specially designed race suits for this weekends action in the USA. And team principal Frederic Vasseur declared the Miami race will be "one to remember in the history of our team".

He said: "In Florida, we will be celebrating our heritage through a unique livery, rediscovering two colours that are part of our history. It will also be a very special race as we are glad to welcome the arrival of our new title partner HP.

"Scuderia Ferrari and HP share many values, including a winning mentality and a clear line of thought that forms the basis of our partnership. Our two companies always strive for excellence and embrace technological innovation, key elements in achieving our respective goals... We believe that HP's title partnership will greatly benefit both marques and I can't wait for us to start working together from this weekend."
