Liam Gallagher has admitted it will be "very emotional" singing the Oasis hits from debut album Definitely Maybe as he kicks off his tour tonight.

The iconic singer will swagger onto stage in Sheffield tonight and has promised to play the Oasis debut in its entirety during the new tour to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Definitely Maybe.

And although he is known for rowing with brother Noel and getting into scrapes with Oasis, he showed a softer side by saying the new tour would mean a lot to him and how emotional he would feel singing the songs that made Oasis into global stars.

Liam, 51, showed signs he was excited for the gig as he began sending messages on social media at 5.16am this morning.

He began on X, formerly twitter, saying: "It doesn't matter if you're out of tune, cos you're cool. C'mon LG x."

When a fan asked how he was he replied "BIBLICAL" and he was then asked if he was most looking forward to being in front of fans or performing on stage with original Oasis guitarist Paul "Bonehead" Arthurs. Liam replied: "Both are very emotional."

He also confirmed to another fan he will not be playing songs from his solo albums and instead will only play Oasis tracks on the new tour.

After playing the Utilita Arena in Sheffield tonight, Liam and the band head to Cardiff before huge shows in cities including Manchester, Glasgow, London and Dublin.

Going into the weekend, the Mirror told how singer Liam, now 51, has opted for a healthy diet and running sessions ahead of his Oasis anniversary tour kicking off.

Liam and his long term partner Debbie had relocated to the Cotswolds while their London house was being renovated and it coincided with a change in attitude for Liam ahead of the epic tour.

A source close to the singer said: "He's getting lots of country walks with their rescue dog Buttons and eating healthily, cutting down on alcohol and going for bike rides and runs.

"He knows how quickly these Definitely Maybe gigs sold out and wants them to be epic shows.

"Rehearsals have gone really well and now he just can't wait to get on stage and have it."

The debut album Definitely Maybe was an immediate critical and commercial success in the United Kingdom after being released on August 29, 1994. It went onto sell 8.5 million copies.

Liam himself had said rehearsals for the DM30 tour had been "SOUNDING and LOOKING BIBLICAL" and he now hopes to continue this on stage for the tour.

Tickets sold out almost instantly but those unlucky not to be going in the coming weeks may have a chance to see Liam singing Oasis songs next year, as the band's second album (What's The Story) Morning Glory? Will celebrate its 30th anniversary in 2025.

Earlier this year Liam vowed to celebrate all the albums, with or without brother Noel on stage.

He told Mojo magazine: “It's down to the universe. It'll happen when it happens. It's not in our hands any more. Me, I love nostalgia, though. I'm doing the lot. Every album….

“You never enjoy them the first time round, so I'll be milking the lot."

  • Liam Gallagher's Definitely Maybe tour is completely sold out. The 30th Anniversary Edition of Definitely Maybe is out on August 30 on Big Brother Records featuring an unreleased demo and unheard outtakes.
