Liam Gallagher swaggered onto stage as his Definitely Maybe anniversary tour kicked off with a host of fan favourite Oasis tracks.

Lovers of Oasis have been eagerly awaiting the chance to see the iconic frontman again after he promised to perform all the songs from Definitely Maybe to celebrate 30 years since Oasis' debut album was released. Ahead of taking to the stage, Liam treated fans inside the arena to a countdown from 2024 to 1994.

And Liam and his band, which includes original Oasis guitarist Paul 'Bonehead' Arthurs, kicked off the gig at the Utilita Arena in Sheffield with the anthem Rock 'N' Roll star. Taking to the stage, Liam in true form opted for a baggy coat. When the clock struck 1994, Liam appeared on screen in his Oasis days.

Having opened his gig, Liam later performed a second Oasis track, Columbia, for a sold-out audience. Liam also decided to whack Digsy's Dinner on the setlist, almost 30 years after he first sung it. But taking the audience by surprise, the Manchester rocker belted out Cloudburst, the first time it had been performed by an Oasis member since 1994.

But one song certainly took the audience by surprise as Liam belted out Lock All the Doors. Earlier in the evening before Liam had begun belting out Oasis classics, Liverpool band Cast had been the main support act, with the first band of the night on stage called Villanelle, who are the band of Liam's son Gene.

Going into the weekend, the Mirror told how singer Liam, now 51, has opted for a healthy diet and running sessions ahead of his Oasis anniversary tour kicking off. Liam and his long-term partner Debbie had relocated to the Cotswolds while their London house is being renovated and it has coincided with a change in attitude for Liam ahead of the epic tour.

A source close to the singer said: "He's getting lots of country walks with their rescue dog Buttons and eating healthily, cutting down on alcohol and going for bike rides and runs. He knows how quickly these Definitely Maybe gigs sold out and wants them to be epic shows.

"Rehearsals have gone really well and now he just can't wait to get on stage and have it." Liam himself had said rehearsals had been "SOUNDING and LOOKING BIBLICAL" and he now hopes to continue this on stage for a tour which will also play in Cardiff, Manchester, Glasgow, London and Dublin.

Tickets sold out almost instantly but those unlucky not to be going in the coming weeks may have a chance to see Liam singing Oasis songs next year, as the band's second album (What's The Story) Morning Glory? Will celebrate its 30th anniversary in 2025.

Earlier this year Liam vowed to celebrate all the albums, with or without brother Noel on stage. He told Mojo magazine: “It's down to the universe. It'll happen when it happens. It's not in our hands any more. Me, I love nostalgia, though. I'm doing the lot. Every album….

“You never enjoy them the first time round, so I'll be milking the lot."

  • Liam Gallagher's Definitely Maybe tour is completely sold out. The 30th Anniversary Edition of Definitely Maybe is out on August 30 on Big Brother Records featuring an unreleased demo and unheard outtakes.
