A NUTRIENT-RICH diet has helped a mother in her 70s look up to two decades younger, says her daughter.

She spoke candidly about the foods the women in her family swear by to keep their skin free from imperfections.

She took to Reddit’s beauty forum to share her mom’s anti-aging hack in response to a post asking for global beauty tips.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT

Posting under the name Stavthedonkey, she said the women in Asian culture drink a lot of bone broth soup.

“Maybe there's something to it (or maybe it's just genetics, who knows) but all of the women in my family look way younger and they have really nice skin,” she said.

“My mom who's in her late 70s has the skin of a 50-year-old.”

The Redditor said the women in her family eat a lot of vegetables, fermented foods, and “weird” sea creatures in their soup.

She added that they limit red meat and fish while completely avoiding barbecued foods and anything cooked at a “very high” temperature. 

“I think it has something to do with the high heat contributing to internal heat, which can trigger inflammation [that] can show up on the skin (acne, wrinkles, etc),” she said.

“For real, it sounds like horse s**t but goddamn, I look at their skin and I think [thinking emoji] lol.”

SUPER SOUP

Many people upvoted the post and commented about bone broth being beneficial for skin health.

“Bone broth = collagen,” one person said.

“Collagen AND a great amino acid profile,” another chimed in.

“Bone broth (depending on the meat and how it's prepared [of course]) has lots of vital amino like glycine, glutamine, arginine, proline, tyrosine, and so on.

“Glutamine increases water retention within cells, helping to signal growth and enhances cell regeneration.

“Proline is really beneficial for skin health and crucial for wound healing.

“And healthy skeletal muscle has high concentrations of glutamate.”

According to Healthline, bone broth is made by cooking bones such as oxtail, knuckles, and feet with the connective tissue of animals.

The bones are left to simmer in a large pot of water and vegetables for up to 24 hours before serving.

Animal bones can strengthen your own bones as they contain calcium, magnesium, and vitamins.

The nutrient-rich broth also contains amino acids and essential fatty acids.

Research into the benefits of consuming bone broth is limited; however, it is believed to reduce inflammation and improve joint health, and digestion.
