Kerry Katona has risked a spat with Atomic Kitten.
The former face of Iceland took to the stage at NPT Pride over the weekend, performing one of the band's biggest hits, Whole Again. Released just before her departure in 2001, she belted out the words, without ex-bandmates Liz McClarnon and Natasha Hamilton.
When the 43-year-old left, she was replaced by Jenny Frost. Kerry hasn't spoken highly of the group in the past and was quick to re-share the video of her singing their most successful tune with her followers on Instagram, uploaded by the pride account.
Kerry was part of Atomic Kitten from 1998, she did reunite with the girls briefly in 2012 and 2017 as part of The Big Reunion. The band has continued business as usual without Kerry, releasing a remake of Whole Again in support of England at the UEFA Euros in 2020, as well as Liz and Natasha performing at the 2023 Eurovision Song Contest.
Before releasing her biography, titled Whole Again: Love, Life and Me, Kerry spoke out ab out her former bandmates, saying: "I've reached out to Liz and Tash multiple times and I've heard nothing back. I think Tash has blocked me.
Kerry Katona vows to lose three stone before wedding after unhealthy 2022"It's not me being egotistical. When we were on stage and it came to my bit – the crowd would go crazy. They're shouting: 'Kerry! Kerry!' and I could see they hated it. If that was me I'd be using it to sell more tickets. But they resented me. It is the main reason I left Atomic Kitten the first time around," she added.
She's also spoken out about her replacement, Jenny, saying after the Euros: "The Euros goes to show what Jenny Frost is up for, it shows what she is all about. She isn't doing all the s---y clubs and nights at Butlins. Fair play to you Jenny. I've got your card marked."
It comes after Kerry admitted she was "fuming" with her fiance Ryan Mahoney amid speculation over the couple's relationship after she moved into her mum's house following surgery. She was staying with her mum Sue - who she calls her "rock" - revealing she felt "lonely" and "unsupported" by her fiance of four years, Ryan, 35.
But after moving home, things haven't improved for Kerry, who was left annoyed by the state of the house when she got back. "I returned home after staying at my mum’s last week and the house was an absolute state," Kerry wrote in New! magazine. "I was fuming with the kids and Ryan because no one had tidied up anything. It frustrates me, because it always happens when I’m away. I am still recovering from my nose surgery and even bending down at the moment hurts because of the scar on my rib."
