Highlights have included the Ferrari 335 he compared to "God shouting" and a Jaguar F Type he fell in love with while shooting the latest Grand Tour special.
However, it appears that one item from his vast collection sticks in his mind more than others.
Jeremy Clarkson 'got the kicking he deserved' after vile Meghan Markle commentsSpeaking to Drivetribe's YouTube channel he was asked what the worst car purchase he ever made was.
In reply he said: "The worst car purchasing decision I ever made wasn't a car purchase at all.
"But I sold a BMW three-litre CSL for next to nothing, £3,000.
"That was idiotic, absolutely idiotic."
The gorgeous 3.0 CSL was introduced back in 1972, with only 1,265 ever made.
All of those were actually made to allow the car to meet testing standards for the European Touring Car Championship.

And given that similar models are listed online for upwards of £100,000 even the most generous Clarkson fan might admit his £3,000 asking price was a bit of an error.
The TV star will, though, be pleased to hear that BMW actually revived the model in 2023, releasing a new version as their "most exclusive automobile ever".
Dubbed the "comeback of a legend", only 50 were handmade at the company's plant in Bavaria, boasting delightful '70s-inspired racing livery.
