A personal gift to King Charles from Prince Louis gave the monarch a real 'spring in his step', a royal commentator has claimed.
When he returned to public duty on Tuesday, the 75-year-old quietly let royal fans know he was wearing a pink dinosaur tie which was said to be a gift from one of his grandchildren. He wore the colourful T-rex tie when he visited a cancer treatment centre in London.
Commentators believe it was a present from six-year-old Prince Louis, six, who is said to have a penchant for dinosaurs. Royal expert Robert Hardman told the MailOnline: “His tie said it all. It has been a favourite since he became King, appearing on away days, at Palace receptions and even a trip to church. Featuring a blue dinosaur pattern on a pink silk background, it is a cheeky play on his official ‘Charles III Rex’ cypher. Staff know that when ‘C-Rex’ is wearing his ‘T-Rex’ tie, he probably has a spring in his step.”
In the Latin language the word ‘Rex’ means ‘King’ and the monarch went back to work after he had made enough “progress” in his cancer treatment. King Charles spent an hour with Queen Camilla at the University College Hospital Macmillan Cancer Centre. The couple met patients, families and staff.
The visit was designed to raise awareness of cancer's impact on other people and highlighted the importance of early detection. It also marked the King's first day as the new Patron of Cancer Research UK. He also spoke about his own journey with the condition and admitted to patients his diagnosis came as a “shock”. After returning to work he continued with his treatment in the afternoon. He said: “I’ve got to have my treatment this afternoon as well.” The King will not be doing a full summer schedule and measures are in place to avoid over-exerting him.

A royal aide revealed: “He also wants to show it is possible to work with cancer, although he appreciates that everyone has their own journey and it is not for everyone.” While on the visit, the King also took the opportunity to reassure the public he was feeling “well”.
The Mirror earlier reported how the King could be bringing an end to the Royal Family feud, with one expert suggesting he has "kept the door open" to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have made a number of bombshell accusations against The Firm ever since they stepped down as senior royals in 2020, causing a bitter family rift. However, Harry has recently taken baby steps in mending his relationship with his father.
