A Real Madrid member of staff has been charged with common assault, the Metropolitan Police have confirmed.
The Spanish side lifted the Champions League on Saturday at Wembley against Borussia Dortmund. Goals from Dani Carvajal and Vinicius Jr secured the crown for Los Blancos - the 15th time they have won the competition.
However, the post-match celebrations were tainted by an incident regarding a member of staff. A 52-year-old female, who is a resident of Madrid, is alleged to have assaulted a steward.
She was consequently arrested on Saturday evening and detained for a number of hours. The woman, who was a member of security staff acting on behalf of Real Madrid, was then released pending further investigation.
She was formally charged with common assault on Monday and will now appear at Willesden Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, June 18. The woman has since returned to Madrid.

"The charge relates to an incident at the Champions League Final on Saturday, 1 June where Hernandez, who is a member of Real Madrid security staff, is alleged to have assaulted a steward during an altercation at Wembley."
It is suggested that the incident occurred when stadium staff refused to let some families onto the pitch to celebrate. Family members had apparently been identified and cleared by the Spanish giants, only for Wembley staff to intervene.
An altercation then reportedly broke out. Club president Florentino Perez has offered to provide legal support for the accused, who usually works at the club’s Valdebebas training ground.
The incident was just one of several during a chaotic few hours in and around Wembley over the weekend. Three people invaded the pitch during the final itself.

A statement from Wembley confirmed that the trio has been arrested. It read: "It is illegal to enter the field of play at Wembley Stadium, and we strongly condemn the actions of those who interrupted the UEFA Champions League Final shortly after kick-off. All of the individuals have now been arrested. We will support the relevant authorities to ensure appropriate action is taken."
Real Madrid are reportedly frustrated with the ease at which the three fans were allowed to enter the pitch. A total of 56 arrests were made across the Champions League final weekend.
