Eamonn Holmes sparked alarm as he shared a smouldering black and white image on Instagram.
The 64-year-old broadcaster has an impressive online following - with almost 800,000 followers on Instagram alone. But fans were left divided when the GB News host uploaded a charismatic image on Saturday. The snap in question showed Eamonn looking pensively towards the camera while resting his chin on the tips of his index fingers.
The snap was black and white and, with a raised eyebrow, Eamonn - who has been working on air since the 1970s and has been married to Ruth Langford since 2010 - had an inquisitive look about him. And fans were certainly left questioning the reason for the image - as well as their own feelings about the star.
Many were startled when Eamonn shared the snap - fearing the black and white post was being used as some kind of death announcement or obituary. One startled fan responded to the image to write: “don't scare me like this when I am hungover to the bawlseck, I thought you were dead.”
Another concurred, writing: “it did cross my mind too.” While a further fan even seemed to have been left completely convinced that the news host had passed away, writing in the comments: “So sad!! A lovely man.”

One gushed: “Who's that handsome chap ... Looking great Eamonn.” Another asked: “Why has eamonn gone all sexy.” While another simply branded the host: “Gorgeous!!”
Other fans compared the TV star to A List celebrities - and one even through he looked like he could win a film role. One wrote: “Thought you were the new James Bond!!!” Another thought: “Channelling George Clooney Eamonn. Looking good.” And another very confused fan typed: “Omg I keep seeing Paul Hollywood in the photo till I realised it was Eamonn Holmes.”
Other fans were quick to note how healthy Eamonn looked in the image and sent him well wishes as the star has recently suffered from ill health. Back in March, he shared snaps of himself working out with a physiotherapist as he battled “chronic” pain.
Sharing the images, he wrote: "I do a lot of pushing and Johnny a lot of pulling. This is most days for me #Rehab." In 2021, Eamon told fans that he had injured his back. At the time, he told his followers: "Those of you who follow me on social media will know [that] about a month ago I did something to my back. I don’t know how I did it – getting into the car, getting out of a car, getting out of bed, whatever. I’ve got an MRI scan, but the trouble is, everything closes for Easter, I haven’t got it analysed yet, but what I do know is, I can’t sleep at night.”
