Laurence Fox has vowed to move out of London this summer - in protest over the re-election of Sadiq Khan as Mayor and as he faces a backlash over his sharing of an 'upskirting' incident.

The 45-year-old actor-turned-politician teased his plans to quit London earlier this week after Met Police confirmed they were investigating a post he shared via X which included a historic photograph of former Big Brother contestant Narinder Kaur, 51, with the camera angled up her skirt.

The act of 'upskirting' - photographing beneath someone's skirt or kilt without their consent - was made illegal in 2019 with the passing of the Voyeurism (Offences) Act. While Fox did not take the image of Narinder himself, she complained to police after he shared it online and a spokesperson confirmed to the Mirror previously: "We have been made aware of a post on social media regarding an up-skirting offence and we are currently working to establish the circumstances.”

The incident sparked a furious backlash against Fox and he subsequently hinted he planned to quit London while appearing on his YouTube show Fox And Father last Thursday. Now, in a new social media post shared after 53-year-old Sadiq Khan's historic third term re-election as Mayor of London, Fox says he is heading off for a new life in the countryside.

In a seething statement, he wrote via X on Sunday: "I am pleased I made the decision earlier this year to leave this s**thole in anticipation of a @SadiqKhan victory. He has turned this once great city into a violent ghetto. I look forward to spending my days in what remains of this green and pleasant land from July."

Outlining his reasons for wanting to leave the capital, Fox took aim at pro-Palestine marches, policing and knife crime - among other complaints. He won't be avoiding the city entirely, however, as he stated: "I will still work here, but I will not sleep here anymore. London is unrecognisable as a British city, let alone our capital city, and I’d rather spend the rest of my days with people I have something in common with. Who care about England and her needs more than conflicts thousands of miles away."

The controversial star went on to draw attention to the fact knife crime rates are again increasing in the capital and waxed lyrical about his dream of walking his dogs while living outside the city. He added: "I can’t wait to leave and am counting down the days to sitting in a quiet pub shooting the breeze with real people."

Fox's post did not receive much in the way of sympathy, however, as many seized the opportunity to lampoon him and his views - with many branding him "racist". One follower slammed Fox, writing in response: "Here's @SadiqKhan playing his part in clearing London of bad rubbish.Thank you, Mr Mayor!"

And another mocked him for his own failed attempted to enter the world of politics, writing: "Calm down Lozza. It’s only an election and democracy working at its best. You know the same process that saw you fall at the first hurdle because you couldn’t fill the forms in correctly and left too little time to correct them before the deadline."
