Peter Andre has opened up about the heartfelt significance behind his newborn daughter's name, Arabella Rose, and the endearing nickname that's already sticking.

After much contemplation, Peter and his wife Emily MacDonagh have settled on a name for their precious baby girl, who made her entrance into the world on Tuesday 2 April, tipping the scales at a healthy 7lb 3oz.

Writing in his latest column, Peter shared the touching connection to their eldest daughter, Millie, revealing that 'Arabella Rose' was inspired by the moniker they affectionately used for Millie during her initial weeks. He also disclosed the sweet nickname they've adopted for Arabella as the family enjoys their new addition.

He wrote: "A couple of weeks ago I said to Emily that it was down to her to pick a baby name after all, she'd brought our baby into the world. Emily wanted us to decide together, but when she came up with the name Arabella Rose, I immediately thought, 'That's so beautiful.'

"I guess it'll be Bella or Belle for short. Her name suits her perfectly and "Rose" is what we originally called Millie for the first few weeks. Our family feels complete," Pete gushed in his new OK! magazine column. The revelation comes days on from fans begging him not to shorten Araballa Rose's name.

Pete and Emily finally shared the name of their youngest child with fans on Instagram last week, with NHS doctor Emily posting a picture of the newborn and captioning it: "It's taken a while but after lots of deliberation we've finally decided. Arabella Rose Andrea. Thank you to the lovely Sarah Deakin @curation_studio for the beautiful photos!"

"I think you've chosen a beautiful name @dr_emily_official," Pete wrote as he captioned a picture of baby Arabella. "Arabella Rose Andrea. I LOVE it. and I love her... and you of course." Fans quickly pleaded with the dad-of-five not to do one thing regarding his youngest daughter's name.

"Peter that's a beautiful name for a beautiful little girl," one fan told the doting dad in the comments underneath his latest Instagram post. "I read it as Arrabiatta and honestly thought you named her after a pasta dish. Had to read it 3 times. I need my bed," another joked.

"She will get Bella for short and I love it. X," another warned, "It's a nice name but I hope you don't shorten it. It would be a shame if you did." An Instagram user chimed in, sharing their personal experience: "My great granddaughter is called Arabella she's nearly 8 she always insists on Arabella and tells us off if we call her Ari which we do sometimes but she hates it too. No one has ever called her Bella."

Elsewhere in his latest OK! column, Peter also expressed how enamoured all the children are with their new sister, describing her as utterly adorable. He notes how Junior and Princess, who he shares with ex-wife Katie Price, have been particularly helpful, leaving him feeling incredibly fortunate.

Peter has opened up about his family's virtual bonding with the newest addition, revealing: "I'm on the phone to my mum and dad in Australia nearly every day," and "They met the baby by video call when she was just moments old. My sister has FaceTimed the baby too."

He reflected on how technology has changed the dynamics of long-distance relationships and recalled how when his older offspring were younger, they could only "really see their grandparents was if we travelled over there." He then revealed that he won't be leaving Emily and Arabella just yet but FaceTime makes it feel like his parents are "in the room".
