Violent thunderstorms are set to rock parts of the UK this weekend, weather maps show.
Forecasters say the storms will be long lasting on Saturday morning, largely across Scotland. More than 12mm of rain fell across the nation on Tuesday and further downpours are anticipated this weekend.
The worst of the rain - and predicted storms - are likely from around 10am on Saturday across the Scottish Highlands, and Argyll and Bute. The tempests will remain, slowly moving, east for the rest of the day and, by 4pm, Aberdeenshire will bear the brunt of the weather.
Wind speeds, especially across the Highlands, are expected to reach 45mph. Snow, meanwhile, is forecast across The Cairngorms throughout Saturday, meteorologists at InMeteo say.
Showers are also likely across northern England on Saturday afternoon, including across Cumbria. These will move eastwards by the evening, InMeteo says.

Saturday will be wet for many regions, notably most of Scotland (Ventusky)As the thunderstorms take their toll across Scotland, temperatures north of the border will plunge to as low as 5C on Saturday - that is some contrast to Tuesday's highs of 16.4C in Edinburgh, and 16.1C in Leuchars, Fife.
But, in the sunshine on Saturday, it will be far hotter - with highs of 19C expected in Hampshire and Kent. Even these areas are unlikely to enjoy the warmth experienced at the start of this week - when temperatures exceeded 22C in Shoeburyness, Essex.
The Met Office acknowledges southern parts of England will experience weather of a stark contrast to Scotland's vicious storms. The weather service's website reads: "Drier across southern parts of the UK, with temperatures here slowing increasing over the weekend."
And it foregrounds the particularly pleasant weather most of the country is set to enjoy later this month. Weather maps, again issued by InMeteo, show temperatures will feel like 30C in some parts on Saturday June 15. The mercury is set to increase and, due to a lack of wind and sinking air, it will feel even warmer by around Saturday June 15 in most regions of the country.
The forecasters, which runs weather service Ventusky, said it will even feel like 30C in parts of south London and Surrey on June 15 and June 16. It'll appear like 27C elsewhere across the capital, 27C in Norfolk and Cambridgeshire and 25C as north as Humberside. Even in the west, forecasters said it would feel as warm as 25C in Herefordshire and Gloucestershire.
