Now Jeremy, 64, has received the news that one of his farm hands has been diagnosed with a heartbreaking condition.

Viewers love to tune into the hit Amazon Prime factual entertainment series to see the latest goings on from Diddly Squat Farm.

The show has main household names out of the likes of Kaleb Cooper, 25, who regularly appears alongside the former Top Gear personality.

However, construction expert Gerald is now battling prostate cancer, although Jeremy has vowed to give unwavering support.

Later on in the show, the farm owner shared that Gerald was taken into hospital for a medical procedure.

Viewers have loved seeing him give his knowledge on the show, and they're sure to be relieved as he's now on the road to recovery.

Jeremy has only ever spoken fondly of Gerald in the past as he praised the personality for his useful skills.

According to The Mirror, he said: "It doesn't matter if you can't understand what he's talking about, because he's usually talking about Manchester United.

"He's fantastic. We've known each other for a very long time.

"He's 72, also never been outside the village, but has worked on this farm for 50 years. He's a great dry stone-waller, which is a dying art."

Both Jeremy and Kaleb needed his knowledge this year after they had to demolish a large stone wall.

This was during their attempts at 'unfarming', after the site faced significant challenges due to less than ideal weather conditions.

This included the driest summer on record, where the TV personality faced immense difficulty in harvesting any of the planted crops.

The potatoes that grew already underwent through the skin hardening process, meaning they could not grow.

This was after they were already too small to be collected by the machinery, much to the disappointment of Jeremy and Kaleb.

In a second twist, the sunflowers couldn't be harvested wither as Jeremy's plan to experiment with new crops went haywire.

No rapeseed oil was available for planting either as Jeremy was forced to shut down his restaurant after an enforcement notice from the West Oxfordshire District Council.

This made the pair think of other ways to generate income as they borrowed a huge blackberry picker.

But the stone wall proved to be an obstacle to the task, as they ended up destroying more of the structure.

In the end, Jeremy resorted to using a vacuum cleaner to draw out the fruit from the trees, in order to produce jam to sell in the farm shop.
