A male celebrity has reportedly joined the three former Strictly Come Dancing stars complaining about Giovanni Pernice.

The professional dancer, 33, has become the centre of controversy as he denied allegations of "threatening and abusive" behaviour while on the BBC show. Responding to speculation, Giovanni said on social media: "Of course, I reject any suggestion of abusive or threatening behaviour, and I look forward to clearing my name."

It came after rumours began swirling about his conduct on Strictly following his recent stint with actress Amanda Abbington. Amanda left the series early, citing medical reasons and later claimed she suffered from PTSD. The BBC is said to have launched an internal investigation after receiving complaints from his previous dance partners on the show. It has been claimed three female celebrities are taking action against Giovanni. Reports have now claimed a male celebrity has joined the unnamed women and has been in touch with the lawyers acting for the other complainants.

“After three women came forward, a man has now joined their ranks," a source claimed to The Sun. “He personally reached out to the women at the heart of this unfolding crisis, offering them his support and full backing. He has also been in touch with Carter Ruck and told them what he knows, and shared his experiences."

Sherlock actress Amanda slammed Giovanni in a recent interview. She insisted that she requested their practice sessions to be recorded. Amanda said: "I asked for them to be recorded, it was me." The actress added: "Giovanni is nasty. He was awful to a few of us, a group of us." Amanda revealed that the backlash since her revelations has been "awful", and claimed: "Giovanni's fans have started trolling me now. I have had to come off social media and I'm getting death threats."

Giovanni previously shared a statement to his fans as he said: "To my dear fans, I reject any suggestion of abusive or threatening behaviour, and I look forward to clearing my name. Those who have followed my journey on Strictly Come Dancing over the last decade will know that I am passionate and competitive. No-one is more ambitious for my dance partners than me. I have always striven to help them be the very best dancers they can be. This has always come from a place of love and wanting to win - for me and my dance partners. Thank you all once again for your continued love and support!"

It has been claimed Giovanni has quit Strictly Come Dancing after nine years after a leaked internal memo didn't feature Giovanni's name among this year's roster of professional dancers. The dancer has received support from Strictly judge Anton Du Beke throughout the past few months, with the pair uniting once again for a tour this summer.

His 2017 dance partner Debbie McGee also got behind Giovanni as she proved her allegiance has not been rocked by the recent allegations. When Giovanni asked fans to vote for him and Anton the National Television Awards, where they have picked up a nomination for their travel series, Debbie, replied: "On it" alongside a supportive heart emoji. Strictly's head judge Shirley Ballas made an apparent act of defiance as she partnered with Giovanni for a series of exclusive dance workshops.

The Mirror has contacted Giovanni's representatives as well as the BBC for comment.
