Adam Thomas has revealed his son Teddy was left needing urgent medical treatment while on holiday.

The Waterloo Road stars and their family were enjoying a relaxing holiday together when the young star, nine, suffered a nasty injury extremely close to his eye. Adam, 35, has praised his young son for his courage during his ordeal and admits he didn't think he could "love him anymore".

Taking to Instagram, the former Strictly Come Dancing star shared a string of snaps of Teddy on their family holiday as he was being treated by medical staff. One image showed Teddy posing for the camera as he was seen with stitches above his eye following a nasty cut.

Meanwhile, another image showed Teddy in what appeared to be a medical vehicle as his open wood was on display, showing just how intense the injury appeared to be. But it appears the injury didn't dampen the tot's spirit as he was later seen posing in the swimming pool with his family while covering his cut and stitches with a large plaster.

Captioning his upload, Adam penned: "I didn't think I could love this little boy anymore, but I was wrong! I see him in a completely different light now, a new found respect and admiration for this brave lil old soul." Adam continued: "He had a fall whilst we were away and ended up cutting just under his eye… it was quite a deep gash and so had to have stitches but he handled the whole experience like a champ!!

"Throughout all of it he just kept checking on me caz and Elsie asking if we're okay and for us not to worry! Luckily it was only a few stitches and I know things can always be worse and they are for so many people, so just got to count our lucky blessings, but seeing your child have to go through that last night really was a big wake-up call for me… a new fear unlocked."

His post which has racked up over 38,000 likes was soon flooded with messages of support for young Teddy, with their Waterloo Road co-star Francesco Piacentini-Smith penning: "Go on young Ted." Joel Dommett added: "Legend." Emmerdale actress Laura Norton gushed: "Awww bless him. Soldier."

"Little legend that boy," gushed Richard Fleeshman. Adam, who shares Ted and daughter Elsie, six, with his daughter Caroline, previously revealed that Ted was "looking after" him after he had suffered a painful rheumatoid arthritis flare-up. He told fans: "I was in so much pain, still am... but just to add to the pain I kicked a chair in a scene today at work and I can't tell you how much it hurt.

"Tried to play it cool, but wow. Good little Ted for looking after me."
