Hollywood star Michael Douglas thinks executives are spoiling sex scenes by meddling too much.

The actor, known for steamy scenes in Fatal Attraction and Basic Instinct, believes execs are taking control away from directors by using specialist intimacy coordinators. Michael, 79, said: “I’m past the age where I’ve got to worry about that! But it’s interesting with intimacy co-ordinators. It feels like executives taking control from film-makers.”

He accepts the need to make sure women are not being exploited, in the wake of Hollywood scandals. But he says it should be the responsibility of the male actor to ensure his on-screen partner is okay. He told this week’s Radio Times: “In my experience, you take responsibility as the man to make sure the woman is comfortable. You say: ‘I’m going to touch you if that’s all right’. It’s slow but looks like it’s happening organically.”

Michael, who stars as Benjamin Franklin in Apple+’s Franklin, has been married to Welsh actress Catherine Zeta Jones, 54, since 2000. They have two children, Dylan, 23, and Carys, 20. Michael recently showed off his youthful appearance on the red carpet to promote his latest movie, with some fans saying he looks "20 years younger".

As he posed for pictures in Cannes to promote his latest movie Franklin, people were shocked by how young he looked and some fans couldn't even recognise him. Sharing pictures from the red carpet event on X, formerly known as Twitter, one fan said: "Michael Douglas has a young looking face." Another shocked person wrote: "Had I not seen the name 'Michael Douglas' I'd have had no idea of who this person was."
