JONJO SHELVEY is on his way to Nottingham Forest for a medical.
The Newcastle midfielder, 30, has dropped down the pecking order in the new era at St James' Park.

And he is now making the journey to the East Midlands to get the transfer over the line.
It is understood Shelvey will put pen to paper on a two-and-a-half-year contract at the City Ground.

He has made 202 Toon appearances, chipping in with 18 goals, but took to the field just three times in the Premier League this season.
His contract was due to expire in the north-east this summer.
Ironically, though, Shelvey was just two starts away from triggering a contract extension with the Magpies.
The six-cap England international has not played since the Carabao Cup win over Bournemouth on December 20.

However, he is set to be back fit again in ten days.
And Shelvey is confident he can play a major part in Forest's fight against relegation, especially with Ryan Yates and Cheikhou Kouyate unavailable.
Eddie Howe, though, will want to bring in a midfielder as a replacement in the squad as they chase Champions League qualification.
Shelvey will be Forest's fourth January signing - after Gustavo Scarpa, Danilo and Wood - and 25th of the season.
