Kim Kardashian's Met Gala outfit has once again got fans talking - and not for all the right reasons.
Her extremely tight silver gown has been roundly criticised, with some slamming the star for 'perpetuating unrealistic beauty standards'. However, while her tiny waist grabbed the attention, many fans missed out on another bizarre choice - her footwear.
Taking to the iconic event in the fashion calendar, the SKIMS founder, 43, turned heads in the flamboyant attire. As she seemingly struggled to walk and breathe properly at the Metropolitan Museum of Art on May 6, Kim surprisingly stepped out in a pair of no-heel heels.

The reality TV star explained: "It's clever because if I had a shoe with a heel, the heel gets stuck in the metal skirt. And so that was our issue of walking."

She went on to describe the art of having such unique footwear, adding: "To wear these, you're on your tiptoes and you're balancing the whole time, flexing your calf muscles. So, that's what I'm gonna have to do is stand on my tippy toes."
Describing a problematic test-run of the shoes, she admitted she soon discovered she couldn't lean back if she was wearing them, but explained it was an issue worth having as her outfit "really needed height" saying "we gotta do what we gotta do".

Despite such intricate planning, her overall look was largely slated by fans on social media. The silver Margiela by John Galliano corseted dress with anon-trend sheer skirt cinched her waist and left it looking even smaller and more svelte than usual, but was blasted as "scary" by some.
One commented on Instagram: "I love you and respect you so much as a mother and entrepreneur, but your waist being cinched in so tight does not look healthy or send the right message. Not that my 2 cents matters in the grand scheme of your you life, just had to say it." Another seemingly agreed and wrote: "I respect the branding beast she is as well as the style but the waist is scary."
