Michelle Keegan's organising gurus share £8 hack to keep makeup neatly displayed

Spring is the perfect time for not only decluttering your home and wardrobe but also your beauty collection, according to the Style Sisters. The organising gurus, who recently helped Michelle Keegan of Fool Me Once fame to tidy her overflowing wardrobe, believe that "Having an organised beauty and make-up area will just make getting ready so much easier and will elevate your day-to-day routine".

So, there's no reason to keep your cosmetics, brushes, and perfumes in a mess. Here, best friends Gemma Lilly and Charlotte Reddington share their top advice on how to organise, store, and neatly stash away your beauty products for easy access and a tidy appearance on your shelves.

Firstly, they suggest checking for expired products

When organising your beauty items, it's crucial to check the expiry dates on makeup and skincare products as using outdated ones can cause blocked pores and bacterial growth. "First up, you want to be checking all of the expiry dates, There are definitely things that have been opened for a little too long that need to go," warn the Style Sisters.

Next, clean your brushes

On the topic of bacteria, when was the last time you cleaned your makeup brushes?

"Before you get all organised with beauty storage accessories, you want to make sure your brushes are nice and clean," the duo advises. "We like to use this gentle brush shampoo to clean our brushes. You can either do it in the sink or you can use this handy little gadget

"It's so easy to use. All you need to do is fill it up with water and add a couple of drops of this make-up brush shampoo. The magic starts and it's so therapeutic and time-saving, and it has a handy bit on the top to dry your brushes."

Organise your products

How often do you search for a product while doing your morning makeup only to find it missing in your cluttered makeup bag? The Style Sisters suggest: "If you can't neatly store your make-up, this handy organiser is perfect. It's got a turn table to keep all of your essentials contained and it's wipeable. We love it."

Store your palettes

Bulky makeup palettes that don't fit into bags and standard organisers can lead to a messy-looking bathroom or bedroom shelf.

"Palettes are the one thing a lot of our clients struggle with, and these palette organisers are brilliant," the pair recommend. "You can leave them on your side, on your dressing table or even in a drawer. If the palettes are too high, you can lay the ones that are too big flat. It keeps everything just so well organised."

Struggling to locate your go-to scents? The pros have a nifty solution. "There's nothing lazy about a Lazy Susan, and they aren't just for the kitchen," they advise. "We love using these for our beauty bits and particularly for perfumes. Pop one on a shelf or your dressing table for an easy view of all your bottles."
