Jamie Vardy is back in the Premier League.
The veteran Leicester City goal-getter has agreed a new one-year contract with the club. Vardy, 37, who joined the Foxes back in 2012 will get the chance to complete his fairytale with the east Midlands club with another shot at the big time.
The former England international has amassed 136 goals in the top-flight - and needs another nine to overhaul Robin van Persie who sits 14th in the all-time Premier League list. The ex-Stocksbridge Park Steels non-leaguer looked to have added a fitting epitaph to his career at the King Power Stadium when he led them out of the Championship.
Vardy collected 18 goals - making himself the club’s leading scorer - as Leicester bounced straight back following their demotion. And for that he has been rewarded with another 12-month extension - lifting the gloom surrounding the Foxes following the defection of boss Enzo Maresca to Chelsea.
Vardy told Leicester's website: “To get the numbers that I did [last season], I’m delighted with it, but there’s still more to come. I look after myself. I’ve always said that age is just a number.
Premier League odds and betting tips"My legs feel fine so that’s why I carry on until my legs say ‘that’s it, game over’. There will be a day when that comes, but that’s not right now.
"We look forward to another season in the Premier League and seeing what we can do. One hundred per cent, it’s the best league in the world. That’s where you want to be playing your football.”
