A man reckons he might have stumbled across Bigfoot footprints while taking a walk along a "remote trail".

Aaron Thiel shared images of the tracks to the Bigfoot Believers group on Facebook and explained he came across them close to Lexington in Kentucky, US.

Aaron said he was paying attention to the ground he was walking on as the trail, spanning roughly two miles, was "super muddy". He didn't see anyone else on it and added: "It was raining the whole time."

Towards the end of his walk, Aaron said he noticed a "weird" footprint and decided to take a photo. As he kept walking he found "more fully formed humanoid footprints".

"It was muddy and definitely not a path to walk barefoot on," Aaron wrote. He described the tracks as "fresh" and said they were imprinted much further into the mud than his shoe tracks, even though he weighs 300lbs (136kg).

In some of the images he lined his own size 12 (UK size 11) boot next to the footprints, showing them to be roughly the same size. He admitted they were rather "small" for a Sasquatch, but the "very peculiar" circumstances in which he found them still made him suspicious.

Reacting in the comments section, some Bigfoot believers said they thought the footprints might belong to a young Sasquatch. One comment read: "Squatch Teenager... not fully grown yet." Another joked: "That's his cousin little foot." A third said: "Don't think anyone would be walking around in mud, also significant weight to it. I believe it could be a juvenile."

However, others weren't convinced and offered some more realistic explanations. One said: "Looks like a foot that has been in a shoe. Be careful, could be some nut that hangs out in the woods preying on hikers. That’s scarier than a squatch."

A second said: "It’s a feral hippie." While a third said: "People walk in the mud on purpose because it is good for the feet."
