Tesco have issued an urgent recall warning for two brands of chocolate bars after they were found to pose a health risk.
Customers with 6 X 40g multipacks of Tesco Nutty Nougat Caramel Chocolate Bars with a best before date of 28 February 2025, or Tesco Dreamy Caramel Chocolate Bars with a date of 31 January 2025 or 28 February 2025, have been asked to take them back to the supermarket for a full refund.
The supermarket says there is a "risk" of peanuts not being declared as an ingredient due to a mispackaging error - a considerable health risk to anyone who suffers from a peanut allergy. Customers have been urged not to eat the product and have been told they can receive a refund in-store without a receipt.
A statement from Tesco reads: "We are recalling specific date codes of our Tesco Nutty Nougat Caramel Chocolate Bars Multipack 6 X 40g and Tesco Dreamy Caramel Chocolate Bars Multipack 6 X 40g. Due to a mispack, there is a risk of peanuts not being declared as an ingredient in the product. This poses a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy to peanuts." Shoppers can also contact Tesco's customer service team on 0800 505 555.
The Food Standards Agency said Tesco will recall the products from customers, and have been advised to contact the relevant allergy support organisations to tell their members about the recall. The recall notice will also be displayed to customers, explaining why the product is being pulled and tell them what to do if they have bought the product. The Anaphylaxis UK charity said the recalled products are "unsuitable for and should be avoided" by anyone with an allergy or intolerance to peanuts.
