Prince Harry is said to be "taking one step closer to isolation" because "nobody is brave enough to stick their neck out" for him, according to a former royal butler.

The Duke of Sussex famously stepped down from his role as a senior working member of the Royal Family in 2020. At the time, he and his wife Meghan said they would be becoming financially independent, with them deciding to move to America mere months later.

And now former royal butler Paul Burrell has said that he thinks the Royal Family is now "letting him get on with it", with him also revealing that he believes the Duke is getting closer to isolating himself completely by pressing the "self-destruct button".

Paul Burrell is a former servant of the British Royal Household and latterly butler to Diana, Princess of Wales. The now-65-year-old joined the household of the then-Prince Charles and late Princess Diana at Highgrove House in 1987, with him working as Diana's butler until her death in 1997.

Speaking on behalf of Spin Genie, Mr Burrell said: "I think they are just letting him get on with it now, I don’t think they are too happy about it but Harry is taking another step closer all the time to isolation. Harry has pressed the self-destruct button and he is going ahead with what he thinks is right and I think he will come unstuck. I don’t think all their plans are going to pan out, I think there is a time scale to his destruction."

Mr Burrell went on to note how he believes that "none of this would have happened and there wouldn’t be this mess if Diana was still here", he added that she "would have cleared it up", but concluded by saying that "there is no one to do it and so it is going to rumble on because nobody is brave enough to stick their neck out and no one is strong enough for Harry to listen to".

This comes after the Duke of Sussex flew back to the UK from his home in California for an Invictus Games event, with him seemingly "snubbed" by his father and the wider Royal Family. Soon after Harry touched down in London on Tuesday, a spokesperson for the Duke said: "It, unfortunately, will not be possible due to His Majesty’s full programme. The Duke of course is understanding of his father’s diary of commitments and various other priorities and hopes to see him soon."
